Thickness of styrofoam worked well in keeping foods cold when shipped with frozen gel packs. Arrived 2nd day cold easily. Buy it.

They fit in the allowed packed bags for the airlines, the cardboard is not thick but the styrofoam inside holds up well. It was raining when we landed and the box got a little wet and started to fall apart. But it worked to fly beef from Colorado to Florida with a layover. Still flozen hard when we got there.

I purchased this box to bring home some snow from a business trip in Utah to my kids in Georgia who were bummed that we didn't get any snow this week. The box had exterior dimensions of 23" L x 16" W x 20" H and internal dimensions of 19" L, 12" W, and 16" H, and the Styrofoam cooler tightly fit inside the external shipping box which was well constructed. I hand packed the cooler full of fresh snow at 12pm on Friday, and it was nearly all there still it snow form when I opened it at 8am on Saturday. This absolutely served its purpose, and I would definitely recommend this as a great option to transport cold / frozen items.

I purchased 2 sizes: large snd medium. The strofoam containers were formed into one uninterrupted, seamless container, so no leaking of any liquids would occur as long as the box was not damaged. The styrofoam box lid fit snuggly on the styrofoam container. The cardboard box was a good fit for the styrofoam container. One must ship the styrofoam box in the cardboard box (or another box), so do NOT destroy the cardboard box the styrofoam container arrives in. I took the precaution of lining both the styrofoam container AND the cardboard shipping box with 33-gallon sized plastic bags, just in case the ice packs melted. The ice packs I purchased <called "(N)ICE Packs"> were sheets of 12 cells that contained a water absorbing chemical in each cell to place in a sink filled with water. Then, the waterladen sheets are frozen. The ice sheets were rated for 72 hours before no longer being effective. I sent frozen smoked BBQ ribs from the West coast to the East coast (USA). There was a delay (USPS) so the overnight guaranteed delivery did not happen. Instead of arriving in 24 hours, the package arrived 36 hours later. EVERYTHING WAS STILL FROZEN: EVEN THE ICE PACKS! YAY! Package arrived in tact and kept items frozen. Once in a lifetime need for such shipping (I hope), so I didn't mind the expense of the packaging, as it was pricey. Additionally, my friends told me they can reuse the styrofoam box, so that makes me feel better about the price! Yes, still cheaper than FEDEX or UPS. Also, USPS refunded the entire shipping cost as they missed their 24-hour delivery deadline! NICE! TY J & USPS!

Probably works well for thermo shielding but is horrible as a fish transport. Does not hold water so don’t buy it if the intent is to transport fish in there.
