Working great on tough stems and branches
I bought these because I wanted a pruner that would be easy on my hand and yet have the power to cut thick weed stems and smaller branches. These are perfect. I tried them out after they arrived and they went right through weed stems thicker than my middle finger like a hot knife through butter. They were comfortable and easy in my hand. I wore gloves, which I recommend; it's too easy to get a blister without them no matter how comfortable the handles. Some buyers have commented that their pruners got some rust. I notice that there is a sort of matte finish on part of the metal on these, so that could be a problem if they aren't cleaned before being put away. That's not much of a drawback, in my mind; just wipe them down after using. It's a good excuse to sit for a moment and drink something refreshing while you clean the pruners!I highly recommend these. They are good quality and with minimal care they should last a long time.

The only brand my landscaper husband will use.
These are my husband favorite pruners. He has done landscape maintenance for over 30 years and this brand and model is the best and replacement parts are available. Best value, best product!

Don't Waste Your Hard-Earned Money On Anything Else
This is the best pruner that I have owned in my 35+ years of gardening. I currently have a huge yard and was seriously behind in my maintenance of it due to fibromyalgia over the last several years. Well I retired last year and starting to catch up on my yardwork very early this spring. It is now summer and I have used this pruner for probably at least 50 hours. I don't mean that it was on my belt for 50 hours. I mean that I've cut branches for 50 hours. After this time, the blade is still intensely sharp. When new, it was literally razor sharp. And it stays razor sharp for a surprisingly long time. For the average user with an average yard, if you don't hit a trellis wire or use it to cut roots in the dirt, it will stay razor sharp for several years, at least. This is pretty amazing. One reviewer wrote that his had rusted. This has not been my experience. The first few days that I used it, I rubbed a heavy oil on the blade afterward. But since then, I've only rubbed it with oil in order to remove sap residue. Except for some residual sap residue, the blade is as polished and shiny as the day I got it. There is not the tiniest spec of rust. At any rate, a fine pruner should be treated like you would treat a wood chisel and rubbed down with a medium to heavy weight oil after use (not WD40, use WD40 for sap removal only).Fiskar, at one time, made a bypass pruner that was serious competition for this Felco. It wasn't as sharp but it easily cut very large branches just as well. But they stopped making it about 12 years ago. Since then I've wasted more than $50 trying to get a decent pruner. I wish that I had bit the bullet sooner and bought these instead. These have a replaceable blade. So unless Felco goes out of business, they are going to last for the remainder of my life; which, according to the actuarial tables, should be about 20 more years.

Sharp and Ergonomic
Sturdy, sharp and balanced to hold and execute pruning force on dry, green, soft or hard vegetation. Compared to bypass secateurs these do not impart injury to your wrist as the shock is absorbed onto the anvil table. Because the blade is double edged it is extremely sharp and wonderfully effective in cutting. Suitable for left or right hand. Everything about this pruner screams build quality of the highest caliber. No wonder Felcos can last decades of use.

Anvil cutter ftw.
Went through branches like a hot knife through butter. Looking forward to many years of service.

Felco F 31, NOT F 310
A lot of the reviews are for the Felco F 310 (also sold by Amazon), which is very different from the Felco F 31 pictured for this listing. This can be confusing.I purchased the F 31 to help with clearing dead brush from a slope. It was very useful and performed well on branches up to 1/2 inch. They were very hard and dry. The F 31 cut such live branches as I wanted to remove very easily. I have used it on only one occasion, for about 3 hours of continuous work, so I can't address longevity. Based on prior satisfactory experience with the brand, I originally purchased an anvil pruner from a company whose name rhymes with whiskers, but had to return it unused because the lock did not work. The Felco F 31 is very solidly put together and while the lock is a little stiff it is completely functional. So far my experience and impressions are 5 Star positive.

Beautifully balanced precision tool -- excellent value!
The Felco F-31 pruning shear is a serious tool and although it has a higher price, I expect it to offer great value during its lifetime. It is beautifully balanced in the hand, has a precision fit and finish, and has a very well developed robust design as an anvil pruner for dead wood (and live wood). The blade is super sharp, well aligned and very smooth during cutting, eg, rose bushes, grape vines, aggressive woody flowering shrubs like bougainvillea and raspberries.I am a residential user, not an orchardist, but sincerely appreciate the fine quality of this tool. Also, Felco offers replacement parts which are easily available in selected hardware stores and on-line, another advantage.I sincerely recommend this pruner over a number of cheaper ones I've had from Fiskars, Gilmore and Corona, and am looking forward to many hours of work in the garden!
